In June 2013, during the Gezi Park demonstrations in Istanbul, Turkey, police had used excessive force,
brutally nishing gas capsule stocks - initially meant to last until 2016 - in a matter of days.
The violence that was applied in using these gas capsules is visible in the marks that were created on the metal, upon being thrown at a person, an animal, a tree, or a sidewalk etc. In this case, not only those that were hit by gas capsules were injured, but also the capsules themselves as well. They are and they carry the evidence of the momentary brutal harm.
In order to show this injury more e ectively, I painted them all white, sanding and painting to a point where they became something more than a weapon that killed and injured many, but an object that owed and resembled human movement in a sculptural way.
Hide and Seek consists of mugshots of these gas capsules that embody the results of physical harm and human madness in a subtle way.
We Play probes into the playful and witty attitude the Generation Y is forced to adopt toward the notion of death.
